Even before Nixon dimes ,quarters,and half-dollar coins became "Cupro-Nickel" because by the 1960s Silver content was worth more than "Face Value" of the pocket change .
When I was still a kid I used to go to banks get rolls of dime & quarters separate them ya could still yet find afew pre 1965 when ya dropped them made a sound too the Silver.
